Estate Wines

For the first time in 13 years of the WINESTATE “Wine of the Year” competition, the winner was a white wine. Given that Australia is noted mainly for its reds, this in itself is unusual, but what makes it so wonderful is that it was a Queensland Chardonnay that took out this prestigious award - Heritage Estate Reserve Granite Belt Chardonnay 2007.

This winning wine is a great story as Heritage Estate is renowned for its sweet wines from the chardonnay grape, but the 2007 vintage was drier than normal, so Heritage Estate produced a dry chardonnay instead. More than 300 wines from 12 categories were sampled in the finals after being rated highly by Winestate judges during tastings of more than 10,000 Australian and New Zealand wines over the past year.

The Heritage Estate Reserve Granite Belt Chardonnay 2007 also took out the Wine Ark Trophy winning the Chardonnay wine of the year.
